1- upload the .swf to your server
2- create an html page with the absolute url, www.yoururl.com/movie.swf not just ./movie.swf
3- open that page in your browser
4- either select send page as email or open a blank email, make sure the format is html select all in the browser, copy and paste into the blank email.
This works with outlook 2000, XP is similar, but the default security settings in XP block the embeded swf!
When I send the mail, is imposible to see the swf (only I can see in my copy)
Someone tell me that is because the player (6), after that I did the html with a swf of player 5, and it did´nt work also.
An other guy tell me that in Mac is correct but in PC no (he has both sistems)...
I ask a friend for upgrade his browser and outlook exactly as my browser, after that I sent a mail for check if is a matter of compatibility but ...
The problem is that is imposible to know the version of all the users.
If I send a swf in a email with X version of a browser, only the people with the same version can see the movie?
What can I do for be sure that the promo is allright for all teh people or the best % ???
I´m desesperate!
I can´t manage to do an e-mail with a swf included.
The guy that I sent the mails (several, maybe 100!!!)
has exactly the same sistem (W 2000), the same browser and version (the newest IE ) but if he send me the mail I can´t see nothing and in the other way is the same.
What is the better form?
the most compatible?
I don't think the browser version makes any differece. The mail software and if they have the plugin installed is what determines if they'll see the Flash movie.
It's really as simple as making an html page with the .swf embedded. The way I explained it in my first post is really the easiest. Before you send it out just save a copy as a draft, that way you don't have to go through all the steps again.
As long as:
1- the swf is uploaded to a web server
2- the html has the absolute path to the swf
It will work as long as they are able to view flash.
There really isn't much else you can do from your end. Even if you put a Flash detector, a new page would probably open in a new browser window, and even the latest Outlook understands very little javascript.
Besides:
1- older mail programs can't read html
2- some people or companies dissable html
3- Outlook XP's default settings block access to swf (I couldn't even see movies I sent to myself, even ones that worked in 2000)
There is a program to help with swf in email. Make sure that you download Version 2. Its much easier to use if your a beginner. Otherwise you have to go into the source menus and do alot of changes. Only works with Outlook Express. But its definitely worth the compromise for sending swf files embedded.
