Live autopsy on Channel 4 (UK) - The most minging thing ever broadcast!

    http://www.channel4.com/thinktv/

Tonight (right now in fact) on Channel 4 in the UK there is a live (sic) autopsy being performed. I've managed to watch the bit where they gut the poor stiff on the table but neary wretched when they hacksawed off the top of his skull and removed the brain!

Truly minging! Worse even than Baywatch nights.

He's not licensed to perform Autopsies in the UK, so apparently he'll be arrested for it once it's been broadcast...

I went to the exhibition in brick lane...freaky.

It was well and truly minging watching him carve up that body and the bit where he scooped out all the internal organs was nearly worthy of me puking in the bin

And to think, parents thought their kids watching buffalo on the discovery channel making sweet sweet buffalo love was bad...

Well done to Channel 4 to having the balls to show this programme. I have become increasingly tired of the uninteresting bland television, that seems to be aimed squarely at readers of the Daily Mail, and yes I do mean Richard and Judy. Channel Four used to be the home of groundbreaking television, some of it excellent, some of it not so good, but all of it original. Now, we are used to seeing the same rehashed concepts, but on the day Celebrity Big Brother starts we also have The Autopsy. Many people think that this is ghoulish rather than educational. I however think that it IS exceptionally educational. Many of us will have autopsies performed on us after we die and I for one would like to know what takes place.

I used to develope the coroners slides and the troopers film. At first it is pretty horrifying but after a while it's just another brain, or heart. I have seen people who have been shot in the head and people who have been in airplane crashes. By far, airplane crash victims are the hardest to look at for me.

it's not supposed to teach you how to perform an autopsy, it's just supposed to widen your horizons and make you think about your own mortality. It's all about breaking down unnecessary taboos.

Isn't channel 4 one of them england/europe stations? I heard of it (I live in the US). Man I wish I would have seen this. Anyone ever see the Alien Autopsy on Fox a few years back? It was suppoused to have been made in 1947 in Roswell. It was pretty graphic, even if it was fake.

I thought it was really good, highly interesting and very informative.

I have, however, seen an autopsy and several operations on the discovery channel, not in such depth and detail, but never the less they've been on.

Even though I think Professor Gunther Von Hagen is in it for the showmanship and money I think its good to break down these barriers. Its just another stage of life. Nothing to get excited about. It was all legal and performed with and by consenting adults, so whats the problem?

If you are that offended by it, just don't watch.

apparently not, according to what I read he was breaking health and safety by not practising the autopsy in a building registered to do so, nor was he registered as to perform autopsies in the UK...both of which are required under law.

Yup... there were grey areas... I was referring to the legality of the people doing the autopsy being Doctors and the man legally donating his body for this process.

are they going to re show it? Early work starts means late night gore is off the cards, unfortunately. Been to see his Bodyworlds exhibition in London and that was pretty interesting, it would have been good see him 'in action' - so to speak!

    Hi..
I watched the first part of the programme. Body parts did not
    look quite real !!

Did we witness a true autopsy or a very clever stunt. ??
    I remember a programe about a studio/workshop that made
body parts for films. Some of those were very realistic.

I would of thought there would be a danger of disease,
but no one taking part was wearing a surgical mask ??

The scull was opened and the brain whipped out.

Where was the spinal cord ?? I personally did not
    see it being detatched.
If someone tells you it can't be done,
it's probally because they don't know how.
