xoops is hardly a replacement for a commercial business solution.
It is more a community-based program than a bonified content management system.

I never evangalized that Xoops was a 'bonified' content management system.

On the flip side, Contribute is hardly a 'bonified' CMS, it is just another way for Macromedia to jump on the dynamic content bandwagon. In these days you do not acquire a 'bonified' CMS for $99 bucks thank you very much. My point is that Xoops and other similar systems gives much of the same functionality as Contribute, with the added bonus that they have 100% web based administration.

    Have a nice day.

i have plenty of happy xoops customers, they are able to update their own text on certain pages, and there is a module that lets them use a WYSIWIG editor in IE so they can upload photos and do a bit of text styling...all client responses have benn overwhelmingly positive

I havent used Contribute for any clients yet probably becuase my needs are filled with Xoops already.I must say Contribute looks interesting, and I look forward to playing it.

    Cheers

    Trooper,

Sorry if my post sounded hostile... it appears your buttocks have been chafed by my use of words (just kidding)
Actually, I agree that Contribute isn't a 'bonified' CMS either, but a commercial business solution it is. It is gaining a foothold pretty quickly.

I am not a huge fan of contribute, and rather use web-based administration. I just wanted to point out that there is a difference between a communication portal and a CMS, especially when it relates to the business realm.

At any rate, I vote for 100% web based CMS. Good post.

    Contribute & Frontpage??

Our development firm has switched to the 2003 beta release of Frontpage for development. We are very pleased w/ the product in general, still a few quirks here and there, but my question is:

Has anyone tried to use Macromedia Contribute w/ Frontpage 2002 or 2003 beta? We are going to be investing in this software and from what I have gathered from reading on the macromedia site is that it can be used even on hand coded pages and Frontpage, but I was wondering if it was any level of difficulty involved?

    Any help is appreciated.
