Did anyone else here find the secrect story and the hair cut? Second box from the right. Then you have to zoom in by click on the last box. It's as weird as you can get. Also that Pro-Bono site was pretty funny (Optimized for IE 6.0).

yeah it just keeps going and going through the different links, beautifully done, a lovely example of good flash work, every step reveals content you might not see at first. There's even a chat/guestbook thing, someone called 'flashkit WASere' had just written a comment.

    sweet site.

genuine design, not to everyones taste, but brilliant non the less. The feeling of being further and further immersed is great and I love the way the music fades as you go deeper.

I wholeheartedly agree joebeanyuk. It's great to see someone doing something really inventive with Flash navigation - real breath of fresh air. Also, the creator behind Sofake has written a chapter on the navigation of the site in this book Flash MX Most Wanted

    Top indeedy.

I can't believe you mentioned usability!!
wow, not everything is about usability y'know...
this site isn't for the average schmoe, half the interest is in discovering all about it!

just my personal opinion but this is where many usability evangelists get it wrong, sometimes the definition of usability has to change... eg. I find some sites designed to be usable for web novices incredibly frustrating!
So one set of usability rules do not work for everybody

you're right, I'm usually critical of sites that obviously don't think of the user when they're designed but this site is obviously designed fully with the user in mind, it doesn't have to be a site neilsen would like for it to work in usuability terms.

I think the reason that this works, even in terms of usability, is because it challenges the user in a good way, in a logical way, and it rewards the user's exploration and experimentation. It's not that they stuck mystery meat navigation on it, they created a different metaphor and I think it works, beautifully.
