    load external swf with option to skip

    (flash mx)

    i want my base movie to automatically start loading an external intro movie at frame 1, and i want to give the user the option to skip this

    do i need an 'onEnterFrame' event to trigger the loading of the exernal file?

    and, when 'skip' is selected, is there a 'stop loading' command?

    i'm not sure of the sytax for these

    cheers for your help

    off the top of my head id use:

    this.onLoad=function()
    {
    holder.loadMovie("Your.swf")
    }

    for the loading of the Movie into an empty MovieClip called holder in your main swf file

    in a button or wherever you have want the unload action have :

    on(release)
    {
    holder.unLoadMovie()
    }

    hope that helps

    Hi,

    One possible catch.

    If you use unloadMovie() and the Movie is not loaded it can
    sometimes crash the Flash player.

    So I prefer to avoid this possibility by loading a blank
    single Frame .swf instead. Just to be safe.

    ie.
    on(release)
    {
    holder.loadMovie("blankMovie.swf");
    }

    Also you will need to be sure that your user has the latest Flash
    plugin as the original 6 version had a bug that made it impossible
    to stop a Movie load once it had started. There are still lots of
    users out there with this buggy version.
