    Opinions please. 3d flash site.

HEllo I put this flash site together using swift3d and was wondering what you guys think.

It is not all finished yet but I wanted to see what you guys thought.

The site's loader isnt finished yet.

WHen the first cube lands and the pictures undulate over it is the theme I will use for the rest of the cubes in the site but it is now 3.15 MB so I am pushing the size.

    www.rodneybenn.com

    is the site.

    I also did
    www.lightboxpictures.com

    it is finished for now.

    please critique.

    3.15 MB?

bring it down to AT LEAST 900 KB if you want anyone to look at it.

    Hmm.

    Did you look at it?

Is there a way to get it to work broken apart into smaller movies you think?

the cube part lasted a long time, and then was confusing when it stopped. the site was ok, but to break the load time down you need to load seperate swfs for the dif sections.

gosh danget, i just typed a really long reply and my page crashed. stupid thing... sry, if i can find the time again i will again..

ill sum it up as quick as i can :

the file size is enormous, if im a consumer looking for information i would never wait that long, the only reason i did is cause i forgot it was loading and had it in the background...

the next thing is ther are parts that make it look unprofessional...

the splash page is not very clean/crisp
overuse of swish-like effects (dont knwo if you used the program or not, am pretty sure you did)
and a few other small things, like the preloader...

when i think of a corporate or professional site i think its streamlined as much as possible, your site was very clunky...

the 3d i did like, or the ideas behind it, the green reminds me of a doctors office, but i guess it can do.

the transitions were great and i loved them, but they were way 2 long. if u up'ed the frame rate on the movie im sure it would add alot between those pages..

i would suggest a main navigation for the site... using back buttons and on the go nav can make it confusing for you and the users of the site..

overall i give you 3/5 . its got some good and bad going for it.

    yeh

See the Lightbox site I did was very minimalist.

IT is 2.3 MB but loads rather quick and is easy navigation.

On the RBP site I went with an idea and now can see it is just too much.

Did alot of work on the in between transitions and searched alot for fitting sounds and then felt even though it was looking cool it might be off the deep end.

SO now I might do a whole new layout.

Maybe just a layout like the lightbox with the cube floating on the side and when I pick a single cube comes off the main set and displays the info.

    Hmm. brainstorming just now.

    a note

Just thought Id mention that all of the folks taht we recommend our stuff to are corporations with dsl up to t3 so our traffic is usually the corporate types but even if load time wasnt a factor I am not sre about the layout anymore anyways.

    ok

OK I am changing it to less then 1 MB site.

BEsides the load time did you guys like the animations and layout?

I am already changing it so that all content is available at the same time now so I will post the site again this friday.

It will be more like the Lightbox site.

Please keep in mind that the only people that get sent to these sites are corporate types that have like t3.

BUt I am going to make it so that even 56k ers will be able to enjoy for flash community credibility.

    THanks for input.
