adding variables for an external source?

    Hi guys,
I知 facing a major problem with a script that I知 doing, i think it's pretty simple but i can't figure this out.
I知 loading variables (numbers) from a text file with a loadVariables("poll.txt",_root); action, i can see the variables when i run the swf file. but the problem is that i'm trying to have a "total" that counts all the variables and dump them in there.
I知 using variable1+varables2; but it doesn稚 work. i think it's because it's loading it from an external files please help. The Swf file will be in flash 6.

    thanks in advance
    Sam

    !

Flash loads the variables as strings despite you have the numbers in the file. I think if you add 123 to 456 (for example) you have the result 123456 instead of 579.

    Try to add this way:
    Number(variable1)+Number(variable2).
