In the Movie Clip or _root?

Hi.

I was just wondering what in your opinion is the best place to put your code. In the Movie Clip that you are going to be affecting or in the _root level?

I always put it in the Movie Clip but in a book that i'm reading at the moment, it puts the code in _root.

well i put functions and code related to the mc inside the mc and
and global functions on the _root
i dont know if this makes any difference in terms of cpu speed though
