OK FlashKit Crew, this is a very serious and exciting post. I have recently done an extensive amount of research on seminars and classes specifically geared towards Flash 5. Based in the great and diverse mecca called NewYorkCity, guess what I found? Nothing. That's right, nothing. There are some lengthy development classes offered at big, expensive, semester-based design schools like Parsons and NYU, there are some cheesy development 2-day seminars offered by the Forum of the week. However, there is simply no specific, compact, succinct, and expert Flash 5 class offered in Manhattan or anywhere in New York, for that matter.

So what do the resourceful minds do when presented with such circumstances?

I want to start a Flash School: FutureFlash.

Within this very board exists all the necessary elements to plan, organize, structure, build, teach, and market the idea.

I have lots of ideas from concept to finish, far too many to explain in this post. And I assure you, this is no fleeting dream.

This is NOT a full-time endeavor, but rather operates on a compact plan which would work into any ambitious designer's schedule.

I will say this, at the expense of sounding a little William Wallacey: have you ever wanted to really get involved with something groundbreaking? Really participate in something which can make a difference in your community (in our case, the community of the digital revolution)? Well, the time is NOW.

I'd like to have a preliminary meeting around the beginning of the month, to see what kind of Manhattanite attendance we can draw, and to test the waters for a FutureFlash Board.

If anyone has any ideas, thoughts, concerns, suggestions, please, feel free to shoot me a mail, drumatic@kemek.com. I look forward to getting started on this profound project...

    OK, Let's try again!

OK, I know the FK Crew cares about something as future-minded and exciting as this idea.

So I'm going to assume that the post was lost in the muddle as it was posted late last night.

It is the height of the day, and I ask, once again: to those ambitious designers and individuals located in NYC, are you ready to work on a new project: FutureFlash?

I am not from NY, but if I was I would be involved. It sounds like a very good idea. I have been to MM seminar and they totally suck. You learn so much more off the internet at a far better price.

    Cool Nonetheless...

    ...I appreciate your response.

Further, based on some additional feedback I've been receiving, it may be the case that a *touring* FutureFlash would be a good idea, as many markets aren't offering such expert classes. If it is the case, I'll make sure to keep you posted, diavolo...

    FK

well...the way I see it, FK's already got a great "course" online...the idea for FutureFlash isn't really about the web...let the peeps who do it best keep doin' it best *FlashKit*

FutureFlash is an idea that partners with an FK, but which focuses, very specifically, on offering compact and expert classes crammed into a 2 or 3 day period

    visceral, hands-on, in-your-face, explicit...

lots of material, lot's of work, lot's of fun

so I've gotten a pretty good response from some of you New Yorkers by email...I'm excited to have our first meeting at the beginning of the month...

however, the call is still loud and clear: ALL NEW YORKERS! if you'd like to be involved, shoot me an email! get in on the ground floor, 'cause we're breaking ground TODAY!

The last time I experienced something like that, I had to go to the clinic for a shot.

But seriously, it sounds good. I've heard many gripes about the so-called "intermediate" Flash classes in my town (Phoenix), which seem to be the equivalent of a few of MM's online tutorials.

But a touring course---wouldn't that be "ye--GODS!" expensive!!! I've seen "up-and-running" seminars priced at $1500 or more for a week. I don't gamble like that in Vegas!

Angry Spreading a little Virtual Love...

yo naldoman...drop a mail, if ya get a chance, to quack@quackpot.com...he's a virtual quack also living in Phoenix...maybe you guys could bump heads sometime...who knows?

anyway...I do want FutureFlash to be clinic-like, but the only shots we'll be distributing will be screenshots...

at any rate, point taken on the overly verbose explanation

as far as money...well, yes, of course there would have to be SOME money involved, although by my calculations, we could open classes for about half of your average Vegas purse...

but those are details...now I need a few ambitious and deciated maniacs who want to join the team and to help take this idea into the future...
