    force download of .pdf - not view in browser

    Anybody have a suggestion to force the download of a .pdf rather than having it open in a browser window?

    You can't "force" a download against the user's wishes! Zip it up, then (s)he will be asked if (s)he wants to download it or not!

    not as .zip - keep as .pdf

    sorry . . didn't mean to force the download without their knowledge. i meant to be able to prompt them with an option to view or download a .pdf.

    i don't want to .zip it up. i want to keep the .pdf extension so there is no need to unzip.

    thanks

    oldnewbies way is the only way !!

    You can give them the option to open it in Acrobat Reader:

    Code:
    on (release) {
       getURL("your.pdf");
    }
    or if they want to download it:

    Code:
    on (release) {
       getURL("your.zip");
    }
