    Hey guys, I just started working with a new client that I'm going to be doing alot of 3d swift renders with, What do you guys think about optimaze? Is it a good program? easy to use? worth the money? Is there a simple alternative to it?

    thanks.

    Yes, there is more to it than that. Optimaze! optimizes the vector graphics in every frame of an animation. It doesn't do anything for bitmaps whatsoever. The amount of compression you will get from the program and the quality of the compressed file will vary according to the complexity and nature of the movie that is being compressed.

    Overall, I think the program is well worth the money if you work with a lot of vector based files. If you work with primarily bitmaps or only occasionally need to optimize vector animations, it might not be for you.

    the bottom line is;
    it will reduce the size of vector images on average by 20% or more. for a 300k website that's 60k. Somtimes the reduction is much larger, sometimes it's not very much at all. for my money it's worth it.

    its one of those tools that should go striaght to 'greatest hits' and just drop down in price to $19.99...then it would be worth the money...

    there are other ways to optimaze your file size.

    You gotta learn efficient ways of using layers in your animations, also that goes for scenes and keyframes. Sometimes you can actionscript your animation (which reduces file size, but may need higher cpu usage). You have to try to reuse elements as much as possible. Avoid certain fonts that have bigger size than others.

    Anyway, the Optimaze! may be a nice tool, but it will ever make miracles. It all depends on the quality of your work.
