-carnwath - I don't understand datapoints? In 1 lap a maximum of 22 cars is travelling thrue 37 keypositions at the monaco track Off course I madea default lap and edited only 1 keypoint (or as many as 5) to make a correct laptime for the different drivers.

Twisted Moind - We are a bunch of GrandPrix 4 gamers , and since that game isn't supporting multiplaying, we all drive alone and send the racefile to a leaguemanager. The leaguemanager posts a resultboard telling us what place we made. What I do is take the laptimesand create a replay movie of the race, what it would look like if we where to drive online together... Hope it explains!

Now I understand. You moved all the racecar numbers through keypositions.

I was referring to using an external XML file or a big array in the movie and reading the datapoints in the array or file, which we discussed in another topic somewhere here.

Your 4 laps worth of movie swf is currently 256kbytes so 70 laps will eventually need 4.9mb or so and will get very slow to run, when the user switches from lap to lap.

Long term the data from the leaguemanager would be easier handled in xml or a spreadsheet and then either read in as xml or programmed in as declared data in an array.

If you store the data in an array for example, then the data storage for one lap will be about 37x22 x 8bytes = 6512 bytes per lap

The whole 70 lap race would only need about 300k but best of all, would save all the hard work of creation of keypositions manually.

post your movie source with the gifs etc etc and lets see if maybe we can make a quick demo of the same but using arrays

    Speedcheck and Playability Test

    Hi Folks,

The much hyped v20 of my 10 pin bowling game is ready for a 'playability' test at:

    http://www.morgan-multinational.com/...game_(v9).html

There's still a bit to do on an intro routine, end of game routine, high score table, sound etc. The score board needs a bit of work, and theres some cleaning up to do, but it should be playable.
It works pretty well on my 2.6GHz beast, but I imagine it will be a bit slow below 1GHz

What I need to know is:

What speed of machines is this playable on?

Any feedback would be very much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Morgan

    FN,
Congrats, its very nice, but the skittles roll around too long (unaturally) after being hit.

I used 300Mhz Dell and everything loaded up and ran ok
