load multiple swfs into an empty clip?
I'm having trouble loading multiple swfs into an empty movie clip. I've read (and tried) all of the Wildform tutorials, which make perfect sense. When I try loading the second swf into my empty clip, however, it doesn't play. I'm assuming I'm missing some basic scripting step, but can't find it in any of the sample .flas as the actions are only for one swf. I've also checked the load movie questions here and can't find the answer to my problem.
To load two swfs, would the steps be as simply as to drag two instances of an empty clip onto the stage for the first swf, give frame 1 a load swf #1 action, frame 2 a stop action. Then in frames 3 & 4, drag two more instances of the empty clip onto the stage, load swf #2 into frame 3, and a stop action in the clip on frame 4? This all on the same layer? (I've tried different layers, but swf#2 still won't run.)
So ... why does swf#1 play fine, but swf #2 doesn't load into the empty clip and play for me?
I have Linx, which is a great tool, but I find it's running the swfs too slowly, so I want to load them into Flash.
Could someone help?
Thanks,
Lindie

Hi.
If you put a stop action, it's going to stop your movie from playing.
Check out these two tutorials:

and

Also, if you have Linx, there should be no reason to use Flash to do this. What do you mean that it's "running the swfs too slowly"? It shouldn't run the swf's any slower than Flash would. Are you using different SWF framerates in Linx than were used to create the SWF files?

Thanks, jb. These preloaders are working for me.
Re: Linx, I've only made swfs at 12fps. That all I ever use.
What I've been finding, however, is that after I load one or two swfx, Linx begins to get sluggish. It seems to be worse when I change the alpha to fade them in & out, but it also happens when I do nothing else to them at all. I stopped loading on the timeline and started using "load a new swf at the end" command, but still, after one or two swfs, the whole thing slows down. So much so, you can literally see the frames ticking slowly on by. Unfortunately, it publishes that way too. I really like the user friendliness of the Linx, but have pretty much given up using it. If I'm doing something wrong, I'd really appreciate knowing what it is.

What kind of computer are you using? How much ram, what's the processor, etc.?
Have you tried it on a different computer?
What version of the Flash player do you have installed? You may want to update your Flash players.
We use Linx here all the time and we have not experienced what you are describing, nor have our customers complained of this happening.

Hm! Well, maybe it's just something wacko with my computer then.
I'm using an HP PC, 64 mb RAM, with 15 GB HD. I upgraded one of those to quite a bit more capacity, don't remember which one now. Still, I'm a site designer (not nearly a guru in Flash!), so I have a pretty decent system running.
I'm happy to hear others aren't experiencing the same problem, tho. Linx is quite a brilliant innovation.

When you get a minute, email me a sample Linx .lnx file that you have created that is running slowly with the SWF files that are in it as well as the output file.
