question about blogs :: educate me

ok. I know about blogger.com, as well as moveabletype. but I'm looking for something I can host on my site - which moveabletype fits this bill.

but what others do people use? antville, bloxsom, PHPosxom, or else?

    just curious.

and no Jamble, I'm not asking you for an install of this one

I'm in the process of Adding an MT to my domain at the moment.

But there is one other in the same type ie you can host it yourself.
I'll get the name for you

hehe ... surely you're not going to keep your site updated mang

I think jofta (wow-factor) uses b2 which I think is supposed to be a good one. Moveable type is pretty smart though, I'd use that because I'm used to it but I think they're all very much the same as each other really.

Greymatter is great for me. Written in perl it's completely configurable, great content management and if you know html / css very easily skinned. uses CGI but I believe you can utilize mysql/postgre.

Check it out. Just gotta google for greymatter for more info.

ive just made one for my own website - still testing/making final mods. its a flash front end, with a main rss2 (xml) sheet with the latest 10 entries (with the first 500 chars of the complete article), and a db for all the entries peralinks. runs with php/mysql , and entries can be added/deleted (cant modify as of yet) by a very simple html form (optimised for PDA) or WAP form (optimised for cell phones with thier tiny screens)

designed to be stupidly easy to use, with the absolute minimum of functionality - except for the flash front end for presenting the blog on the site, which took weeks just to design the GUI with k10k.net's blog as a source of inspiration (i like to be perfect)

might release some sort of version in a few weeks, depending on the amount of free time i have. im blabbering on now, so ill shut my face

sheriff, keep me posted. I'm personally interested in what you produce. I've always wanted a Flash/XML blog, but hell... parsing simple XML into Flash and having it scroll (dynamically) has caused me fits of madness.
