So just recently, about 4 days ago, watched the most interesting and confusing movie ever. Donnie Darko, and im trying to fully understand the meaning of it, so if anyone else has seen it please post your interpertations. Im most interested in anyones thoughts about Frank. What the hell is he doing? what is his purpose? but anyway, if you havent seen the movie its a great mind **** movie, really plays with your head.

Yes, it's a very confusing movie indeed. I liked it though. Jake Gyllenhaal was great. I still can't really figure out the entire meaning and some of it just doesn't make rational sense.
There's a thread at my site about it which talks about some of the details.

One of the better movies I have seen. On the IMDB there's all sorts of explanations of the plot so you can understand it better. On the DVD, I watched the Director voiceover to gain additional insight. Read this, it's a script review of Richard Kelly's next movie - KNOWING. Seems it's almost the same movie but perfected. Read up...

    EXCELLENT movie.

The website will help explain it further, but it will also confuse the crap out of you.

I won't give the explanations I've read to avoid spoiling it for others.

Donnie Darko is a teenager living in an American Suburb in 1989. Donnie is remarkably perceptive of people and of the world he is living in. One day a jet engine crashes into his family's house and everything changes.

The story is extremely interesting full of irony and subtle satire. My favorite scene is the conversation Donnies friends have over the smurfs sex life. I think he is making fun of teenage guys in general and how perverted they can be. I love this movie.
