settings for a3 poster in PS?
hi all, ive never done a poster before, so im wondering in photoshop what settings should i have for an a3/2 poster? like pixels per inch etc?

Hi u need to have 300dpi or above and running that at A3 is going to be a big fat file

yeah, it's going to be huge, make sure that anything you import to the file, other images for example, are also the same dpi as your main file.
I've done a couple of large posters and found it much easier to use illustrator for the layout, it gives you better control over print marks, gutters etc.

what is the size for a3? anyone know? height and width? ive got a feeling its gonna be big!

3508 * 4961 pixels, is that right?

don't use pixels for print! adjust your workspace settings.
use inches or millimeters and make sure it's a CMYK environment.
also use points for stroke and textsize and set resolution to 300 dpi.
a A3 is a doublesized A4(210x297mm) wich means it is 420x297mm
a A2 is a doublesized A3 wich makes it 420x594mm
but you can also send the A3 file and have it printed at A2-size. no-one will notice the difference.
another good thing is to have a bleed of 3mm at every side of the paper so you won't loose any text when they cut it. also stay 5mm of the edge with any text.

thats for that mate, really helpsed, ive started it, the person im doin ti for wants it to the same as other posters he's seen, im tryin to get him to see sense!
