    Flash Remoting?

Has anyone been able to get Flash remoting to work in 3dfa?
Or has any one used the loadMovie method directly with binary data from a database?

Here is a link showing how to upload a binary file (images,etc...) to a database.

    http://phpbuilder.com/columns/floria...14.php3?page=1

    It works!
Now! How might you get the data into 3DFA?

    Any Help appreciated.

    Hi PM,

This looks like a great article. I'm going to try this myself for a photoalbum for friends. My first thought was to add an editbox within 3dfa, formatted as HTML, with a string in it which contains something like:

    <img src="getdata.php3?id=3">

Where id=3 is the number of the record you want to get and getdata.php3 is the filename of your retrieval script.

If my understanding of the article is right, this should show the picture.

EDIT: THIS DIDN'T WORK. I'LL KEEP SEARCHING

If you import a JPG and check off the option 'Download External Jpeg'
you can then just use PHP to move the proper jpeg into the directory of the swf and it will load the new image.

There may be a way to change the filename 3dfa looks for when loading but I haven't figured that out as of yet.

    Nice One,

Does that mean you can only have one visitor at a time though?

I kept trying with the '<img src...' idea, but I can't get that tag to work in 3dfa at all. It also doesn't seem to work in the example called 'scrolling html' that comes with version 4, release 4.

Has anyone had this tag working in 3dfa, or should I report it to support?

    Cheers,

    M.

    HTML tags in Flash Player

The support for HTML tags is a function of the player not 3dfa.

Flash 6 still only supports a limited number of pre HTML 4 tags.

and the following link is VERY usefull for learning action script
