Realistic concepts for future Windows versions anybody?
I remember when first got to Windows 95... and how good it was supposed to be over Windows 3.1...
But somehow I find that Windows 3.1's way of launching programs is much more easier and simpler than the cascading start menu...
But I prefer MacOS System 7 and 8's Launcher program (well, that's what they had installed on my old school's comps... and a friend of mine had a PowerMac with it on too, I'm just assuming that it was std. issue for Macs)
What's the point of clicking through dozens of menus and getting lost, when a simple button for a single program would be better?
I get the idea that Microsoft will listen and get the idea that the Start menu (which is used to Stop as well ) is kinda flawed and switch back to somthing simpler... a plain 'ol launcher app will do...
Any other realistc and actually useful sugestions for future vesions?

No!
I don't know about you, but I use a lot of programs and I organize the start menu so I can access each program with ease, the only difference between that and the launcher (which is standard) is a pop-up menu vs. a window with a bunch of buttons.
As for suggestions, I can't think of any right now

looks down at bottom left hand of screen. clicks photoshop icon in quick launch bar.
wow that was hard. looks at shortcut on desktop. clicks it. wow that was even harder.....
one thing i would like is (under nt task manager) to have details on the processes. I want to know what process is doing what and talking to who

Because of the long time it took me to go through the start menu, I moved my taskbar to the left of the screen, made it as thin as possible... as in it only shows the task's icons and not their names (good for pr0n!) and then next to that I've got a massive list of frequencly used apps... theres like some 20 shortcuts and links to 3 service canceling batch files
But I'd prefer it if the new start menu had the contents of the programs menu built into it, rather than clicking on another menu to get to it...

you can move the quick launch bar to the side of the screen and auto hide it, so it pops out when you move your mouse to the side of the screen, kinda annoying when you're using apps and it pops up though.

I'd like a secure version of Windows that doesn't crash all of the time.
Oh, wait. Your subject line reads "realistic concepts...". Sorry!

The next version of windows is going to be called "Longhorn." It is a finished more polished version of XP. It is what XP was shooting to be when they rushed the release.

hmmmm. a better UI, get rid of *.dll hell, and friggin' test the damn OS before you ship it for any major security issues.
