    Keep an eye on this. Trials will be available tonight

    http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/

    If you've pre purchased, details should be going out tonight as well.

    Download Center MM

    Why doesn't MM update the Dutch Flash Install page? There's still a version of 12/12/2002!!
    In March 2003 there was an update for Flash player 6, but the Dutch page didn't get this. I reported this a few times at MM, but nothing changes.
    Now with the release of 7, the story continues.

    I have just downloaded the trial, and I have to say that is one of the longest and slowest installs ever from Macromedia!

    Mostly I like it, or at least, now that I have worked out about case-sensitivity I mostly like it.

    But, why did they kill off the right-click to get to the actions panel? And the scrollbar component for the textfield? And what is it in the new components that means that a Flash file with nothing but two components in it is 257 KB zipped?

    Which brings me to a really great feature: Save and compact. Excellent.

    Quite a few closures, especially in eLearning (EMC being the latest). The up side is that the traffic is not so bad ...

    Flash player 7 final

    I noticed something (could just be me).

    Flash player 7 deletes the caching! When a swf has been loaded, in Flash 6 and below, you don't have to load and wait again to see the same swf. But in 7 the loading starts all over again!! Is this a bug?

    AS is an ActionScript file. ASC is a ActionScript Communication file for use with Flash Communication Server.

    Urgent!!!

    Tell Macromedia that their Player 7 in not backwards compatable when it comes to frame by frame sync-ing of streamed audio.

    Example, www.cyberartlearning.com has one of our 5 minute presentations on their web page telling and showing potential
    students how the online courses work.

    The streamed audio was sync-ed up perfectly under Player 6 but now isn't anywhere near sync-ed. Plus, it get more out of sync as the movie plays on until it is so far out you would think I forgot to select streaming when published.

    For my company to stay in business for what we do there has to be frame by frame sync-ing of streamed audio.

    What happened anyway, did someone forget flash has audio?
    Best regards

    Yes that is the Flash presentation we did for them.

    Now if you are seeing it sync-ed why am I not seeing it.

    Could it be the operating system? Right now I am on a lap top
    with Win98 SE.

    I will have to check it out later on my XP machine when I get
    back home for this road trip.

    i've met with 2 sound problems with flash 7...

    i've been making an animation with flash mx, it's got actions synced to the music. i've just installed flash mx 2004 pro and when i open the flash from it, compile and run it, there's no sound. Nothing. this is the code i used for the sound, and it worked perfectly under flash mx.

    bgm = new Sound();
    bgm.loadSound("s0001a.mp3",false);
    bgm.start(0,false);

    i went back to flash mx and loaded the same file, compiled and ran it, and there WAS sound.

    i opened up the html with my browser and sure enough, there was sound again. could be bug, or a setting issue.

    however the timing issues are quite enormous - the same animation, when tested in flash mx, was synced.
    running it with the flash 7 player from the browser, showed me that it became un-synced from very very early on, as if the animation was running at 4/5 of the speed when i tested it in flash mx. even when i turned the detail to LOW it didn't run nearly correctly.

    i thought there was supposed to be an improvement in speed from flash 6 to 7? my system is XP running on 2.4Gb with 512MB ram and Geforce 4 (128mb), so i don't think it's a speed issue there... right?

    i could not test the animation in flash mx 2004 pro for the syncing of music because there was NO SOUND when i tested.
