Scrolling html textbox?

I am building a chat program in Flash MX.

I have it working using a Dynamic text box. Using html tags I can change the font colors, make it bold, italic, etc.

But, the textbox does not support the html IMG tag to load images, such as the smile images like

Is there anything you can think of that will work? Like some kind of html text box component?

The only thing missing in the chat is the smiles.

hmm...thats a tricky one. however there is probably some way to load images from the library into the textbox area when a certain key is pressed or something typed. i have no clue how to do it tho...good luck.

What about webdings? I'm sure you could find some smileylike figures, if not design your own font, with a font creator. Then it's just a question of using that font in that textfield!

yeah, im sure you could set some unused keys to show certain images... perhaps > ~ ` or who knows, maybe even _

just be sure to let the user know which is which
