Everyone needed for this one ! ! !
Okay here is my dilema, I need you expertise or critizism on this new re-design on an all flash site that I'm making.
http://www28.brinkster.com/interactivetest/
I need you to...
1. Tell me about the splash page.
2. Tell me about flash design.
3. Tell me about the menu, is it to simple?
4. Tell me if the flash page centers by it self.
5. Tell if it's user friendly in you browser of choice, I tested it with ie & netscape.
6. If you monitor is bigger that 800x600, does the site look correctly.
7. Tell me anything that can be added to make the site look more interactive.
8. What would you charge - $$$? We have a set price but I need to know if I'm under-charging.
I'm currently working on the effects for each section, preloaders for each movie, setting up the main enter buttons to open the flash page with-out the addres bar & menu bar and an intro.
Please tell me with all sincerity, this is my second site and I need all the input to become a great designer.
The origianl site is http://www.wahlco.com - www.wahlco.com
Thanks,
Martin Alonso

1. The splash page looks clean and corporate, with a nice professional feel to it.
2. Overall the layout looks fine, although I wouldn't italicize your buttons, but that's just me.
3. Yes your menu us simple. However, Simple isn't necessarily a bad thing
4. The flash page centered for me.
5. I usually use IE and it worked just fine for me
6. The site looks the way I think was meant to on my monitor which is set to 1152x864. Although I would like to see it opened it up and allow for the content of the 'fact sheet' to spread out. What I mean is, I have to scroll it even though there is plenty of room on my screen for me not to have to. That seems a little bit awkward to me.

why use flash for a simple site like this.... use some php, and just build the site around that, oh corse use your flash intro.... but as the site sits right now, php or asp might be better for the pull off..... sure the roll over effects look good, but thes just one small thing , and 90% of people will not notice
but for a flash site its a lil too simple.... just think about it, god knows this is only what i think.... anyways, best of luck
life aint easy, stop whinen'

I disagree
I see NO need for php or asp for this site? What part of dynamic is needed here?
I like it, and I bet your client likes it also? My guess is you are experimenting with Flash elements in html (I like some of the more subtle stuff you have going on in the Flash)...php or asp cannot do that with the same quality as flash....
I would recommend that you break the flash up into elements of an html page though...the text in html format with css will help spider search engine listing results.

Clean, simple, corporate-like.
Ditch the music, doesn't fit. I don't think corporate and music mix.
A bit muted color wise.
centers fine macos9.2 ie5.1

1 . HTTP 404 not found http://www28.brinkster.com/interacti...hlco_intro.htm
2. Splash page - <the flash player...> text all blurry use dynamic text
3. Same point for nav text all blurry
4. As above for the body copy Im a big fan of Verdana 10/12pt dynamic text
5. Pretty basic site - are you loading seperate movieclips for each page - some of the pages took a while
6. Centres nicely in my browser - IE6
7. Lots of white space at the top of the page. Seems like a waste as most pages have scroll content.

ummm..charge
Ok, this is meant as constructive based on over 5 years of doing this for a living...
ellis must be working for pokeman cards or a nickelodean ticket....
Pricing info begins below:
if you want a price, you need to provide more info...
are you in santa ana, same as your client?
did they get quotes locally or nationwide?
what was their budget?
what was the price of the other quotes? (always find this out to compare what you are charging against others going after the same work as you)
are they 100% happy with the work?
is this the first design or a re-design?
if a re-design, how far did you take them to the "next level" in THEIR opinion...
...lastly, the site is almost complete...NEVER! EVER! BUILD A SITE WITH YOUR TALENT and then expect anything more than the value you or they originally place on it. Set your price, get a deposit and then work as hard as you can on creating the best you can offer to your client...
Never do business with anyone who does not value the work you do, ok?
Your question implies that you essentially did all the work and left it to the client to decide on what they pay based on your starting price (which you are posting and asking us for)...
The world is full of pokeman developers, I think you did a great job for your client...there are still things I would change, but call that Phase II for your client. I would subcontract you any day of the week :-)
Private Message me if you want more feedback on the price, just please include answers to my original questions.

thank you so much for the input guys, and Kestral thank you for your comment. I do live in the same city as the client. and for their first site the payed under $700 six years ago, and I quoted the $3,400 for the site that I'm constructing for them.
They said it was too much and I took it down to $3,200 and told them thats the lowest I would go for, and reminded them that you get what you pay for. That the more they invest in their company image the better it will be for their clients who whant to know about the company.
I mean this is company that gets 1-8 million dollar contracts I'm sure they can afford $3,200.
thanks guys for the comments, I'll let you know when I have the intro ready and see if you like it.
laters,
martin

Hey :: sites nice, but one thing :: the looping sound has to go :: it doesnt loop properly :: its off a bit :: just grab a sound loop from this site
-
my 2 cents...
The main menu is hard to see sometimes. You might want to make the buttons less transparent. Especially when I roll over them, its hard to see what the buttons say.
Also, I also agree that an all out Flash page might be overkill. It seems like you can achieve all these effects without Flash (althought it might be easier to do it on Flash. For some reason, the quality (fonts, images, logo) doesnt look as good. Maybe its because you are using Flash instead of regular jpgs on html.
Nice work tho, you can tell you put alot of time into it.
cheers,

Looping sound could do with a cleaner loop. And also the internal flash areas should have a loading bar once you've clicked a button, it takes a while of seeing nothing before something happens... Maybe it's my slow connection though.
