Bitmap graphic.. probably drawn in Photoshop, with minimium vectors used for the smoke.. Heck, he may have not even done that.

That's why it looks so graphically different.

Maru Productions does something similar but Maru P. tends to animate the vectors more:

anyway, i must say this guy does very nice drawings, but if you look closely, animation is very simple and static. the impact and merit of these ones are the the story and the drawings. the animation is good indeed but i think anybody could animate that if he had the graphics.

I'd have to agree with you on that one but, many people to consider it to be a breakthrough in flash animation.

To play devil's advocate, it has a lot of style to it. I've seen some flash animations which although are animated more, have a lot less personality.

It probably was breakthrough when he first starting doing it because no one else was doing such detailed bitmap images with minimialistic animation.

Once again, it has personality, and personality goes a long way.

its cool but i would have enjoyed the short more if he at least animated the fight a bit could have at least animated the lunge by the guy on the rgith with a punch but supurb characters and to me that evens it out and makes all the difference.
