    Should I stop using tables for layout & start using CSS?

    Hi,

    All the latest articles/web design books now advise using CSS for layout instead of tables - I was wondering if most designers were now scrambling to learn CSS, and what the pitfalls were in using CSS?

    there are less compatibility problems with using CSS-P than you'd think, and while CSS formating is almost essential nowadays using tables hasn't been formally deprecated as a means of layout.

    I tend to strike a bit of a happy medium and use CSS-P to position major elements but still use tables where it is sensible, basically for anything that resembles tabulated data. Some people hack unordered lists around to create menus and things like that without tables, I don't see the point really, use a table damn it
