    Xmlsocket/flash Remoting

HI... I am new to using the backend and was wondering if someone could either explain or refer me to a link that could explain the differences between using XMLsockets and Flash Remoting ... thanks.

Flash remoting links you to a Macromedia server and you then connect to your business objects.

A socket server you create and handle all aspects of the communication back and forth.

I typically see the flash remoting as a business decision. If you can save $999 us per CPU by using Flash Remoting then do it, otherwise roll your own solution.

I am sure $999 us is not an arbitrary number... could u explain why you referenced it?

EDIT: nvm... $999 per cpu as stated on mm site.
looks like I should start learning how to use XML sockets. peace.
