Flash into Powerpoint
I am trying to embed a .swf into a Powerpoint Presentation,
but nothing is working....
I found a tut as follows:
"Control" Toolbox - Other - Hammer Icon
Scroll to Shockwave Flash Object, Crosshairs
Drag out to make box as big as movie
Right click on box, get properties
Cutom, click on ... and hard code the location
My file is on the desktop of a windwos machine connected to a network.
This is my hard code:
C:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP\pharma_v5.swf
My box doesn't even budge. What am I doing wrong??
Please help
I used Flash MX and saved it as a Flash 5 file, now I am trying to insert it into Powerpoint, Windows 2000.
Are there any compatibility issues with this??
PLEASE HELP!!!!!
I need to do this for a presentation by tomorrow....eeek!

Flash & PowerPoint
Are you saying that the Active-X Object you created with the toolbox is stuck in place?
Remember, whatever you insert will get thrown to the front no matter what you do... you can resize by grabing the handlebars on the flash object. If not, something is serriously wrong. Make sure you didn;t insert it on the Master slide, as you will not be able to manipulate it in the normal view at all.. Double check this... it's common.
If you are having trouble with your object blanking out or not showing at all.. try this:
Open Properties, or just display the parameters menu for the object.
The default seems to be -1 in the properties box after you insert your Active X control and point it at a flash/shockwave file. Try changing the value to "0" if you have a dark background. You should be able to view your SWF file.
Hope this helps..

By Active-X Object do you mean the white box with the cross in the middle?
If so, yes it is stuck in place, I am not able to adjust it with handlebars as you describe....
Does the actual movie show up in the working window or only as a flash object as in dreamweaver?
My movie is not on a master slide, but it is the first slide of the presentation
I do have a dark background so I will try as you said and change the background properties to o instead of -1.
I have to wait until tomorrow when I have a pc.
I have mac G4, OSX?? Do you have any knowledge on how to do this on a mac?
What about the possible compatibility issues that I mentioned in my previous question?, are they relevent?
The tutorial that I used (and I did it at least 50x's with the same result, only chaging the hard code, to see if that might be the problem)
is as follows: http://www.flashgeek.com/tutorials/02_embed_01.htm
Thank you very much for your reply
Hopefully it is the background color thing....

I've done this many times (on a pc) with success with F4, 5 and MX so I wouldn't say that kind of compatibility should be an issue. You'll only see the movie in your pp slide when you view it in SlideShow mode (you probably already knew this).
The swf should ideally reside in the same place as the ppt/pps.
If the swf is too complicated then there can be playback glitches when viewed in the slide show.
Here's the macromedia tech note page:

Hope that helps, good luck with it.

Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right.

Hmm...ok..
How is Dreamweaver tied into this? Are you creating a flash object from there instead of Flash 4,5,6,etc?
