Damn, I hate TFT screens!

I did this splashpage on a CRT screen over the weekend (yeah, had nothing better to do). This morning I uploaded the page and did a HTML check on a PC with a TFT screen. It looks completly different!

I must have selected exactly those colors that cheap TFT's display show different.

Damn, I so hate to change the colors of each gif now.

PS: Nothing against Apple Cinema displays (Those huge TFT's), they have a very good color scale.

Make sure to test on multi monitors. I have a CRT to test on at home it's pretty good; my flat panel (lcd) is very bright while the colors / contrast on some monitors are crap. My CRT at work is very dark.

I only have a CRT at home. If I had a TFT, I of course would have checked it there.

I make now a big button for the splash: BEST VIEWED ON A CRT!

well i have a dual setup (crt and tft) while i don't think the color of my tft is worse... it's just different. ofcourse when i'm doing dtp i will use my crt simply because it's better with colors. not because my tft is worse with colors

(ofcourse my work is the cover of books so it's imperative that the colors must be good)

however in practise i use both tft and crt... mainly because my tft is better for layout and stuff lines are really straight whereas on crt's it isn't really straight and ofcourse my tft is much bigger then my crt.

I think the biggest problem is that cheap CRT still look good, but cheap TFT's have a big problem with colors and especially with the contrast of the very light and very dark colors.

On the cheap TFT in my office, the "Mac OS X" lines in the middle, are completly gone and the light blue-gray is just light-gray where the darker blue-gray is still blue-gray.

I did a round call, and all without very cheap TFT's have about the same as I had in mind when designing the page, only the cheap guys see them wrong.

set your desktop to 16 bit colors and start designing. It should be pretty much the same on all pc's regardless of tft or crt issues

still sounds like a personal problem to me. my TFT and my CRT show the same image.

Yeah, looks like only the TFT's in my office has such huge problems with my splash page. So my advice, don't buy: Targa TFT's
