    mobile devices

If there will be a forum for 2004 than also one for mobile devices.

I think this will be a whole new area for Flash users and not to be mixed with "normal" site designs.

Yeah considering I've been on 2004 all day and my biggest resource is FlashKit, I think we need a new forum. I don't get it when people are so hung up on what they know that they won't learn something new.

I'd actually love it if the forum and threads were moved to a server other than Flashkit's primary server. This way I wouldn't have to waste time reloading pages until I can view them (regarding the new lovely "One page per user per second" message...)

When I first entered Flashkit in 2001 there were also problems regarding page views.

It's not new and returning a few years later there's still a problem due to the popularity of FK. Maybe Macromedia can sponsor FK with a new server cause of their introduction of 2004.

I also struggled with 2004 the entire day, I can't get any button do it's thing (lite player for nokia) and the Help function gives no topic. (and I hate scripting, I am a designer, not a math expert).

I'm a firm believer that everyone is a math pro at heart, because math is such a major part of everything we do, from speaking languages to walking down the street. The trick is getting to understand the symbols used, and understanding that math is the basis of exactly how your brain functions.

I wish I could help with your Nokia issue, but I still don't have MX 2004 yet, and I'm not familiar with designing for cell phones and PDAs.

No support for Remoting? Come on Macromedia? Make us spend hours learning some complex structure and then take it away? NEW BOARD PLEASE!

    Livesaver,

It's not that I don't understand maths. In fact metrics is the thing that I love.

Normally I only use Flash for designing printed matter. It's much faster than anything else to make a layout for a brochure or designing a logo (see my site)

So, my problem is that I lack the scripting skills that everybody else has. Anyway, seeing your site I think that you must certainly try the new version. I think you'll be rewarded again.

I totally agree. I like using Flash to design better than Illustrator. The layers in Flash are much easier to use, too. The only thing I don't like is that Flash doesn't have all of the filters and effects Illustrator does. But, it's not hard to fake it in Flash.

Yeah, I can't wait to start using the new version, but I need to finish some current Flash MX projects before upgrading.

Oh, and you mentioned a website--what's the URL?

    Livesaver,

    See my profile.....

It's not finished yet, but due to demand of some people I decided to upload the movie.

If you want to view it, just take a look at the graphics. Entirely Flash....

Planned to finish the site next thuesday.

Very cool--I like the water droplets a lot--they have a lot of life to them. You've got some really clean and crisp artwork--looks great!

So, I'm curious--is the MX 2004 engine really 8 - 10 times faster than the MX 6 engine? That thought alone makes me want to upgrade.

Its the Flash Player 7 being at times (not always) up to 8-10 times faster than the Flash Player 6.

Right--basically, would I be able to add more content to intros and animations, and can the v7 engine process layers and transparency better? I'm really curious as to whether or not I can start creating more detail and effects in intros without having to pay so much attention to slower computers and slow Flash.

not necessarily. F7 files should be no different than F6. The player is the big speed booster.
