Urgent - Please Help

I recently did a backup of my web projects to a re-writeable CD because I was re-installing Windows XP.
I've reinstalled Flash MX and Dreamweaver MX on my computer but when I goto open my backup .FLA files and even my .HTML files in Dreamweaver I get an error saying "Failed to Open Document"!! I'm able to create new and even open old .FLA files that I have kicking around, but nothing on my Backup CD.
I've changed the Read Only option of the files but it doesn't seem to affect it. I've also tried copying the files to my hard drive but no luck either. Other programs on my CD seem to work fine and there is content within these files since everything has the appropriate KB information beside it.
I used Nero to backup my files.

Have anyone experienced this problem?
I hope someone can help me because I have very important files on there that I need desperately.

Can you copy the files to the hard disk ? then try to open them.

Yes, I have tried copying the files to my hard drive. I've even tried change the "read-only" state of the file but MX still won't open it.
