    Hi,

The forum is a big place.
Instead of strating a new thread on
a topic it seems that you have already
started it makes a lot more sense
to go back to the original thread.

We're left not knowing what the heck you are talking
    about

If this is a first time out oops hit the wrong button
thing you can always go back and delete an accidental
    thread start.

    According to this thread:
    http://www.flashkit.com/board/showth...hreadid=495679

SJT says that the site is working now.
Is it still not working for you?

But since were here can anyone give me pointers on reducing the file size of my swish movie without losing the integrity of the visuals I was trying to go for.

check out the intro and the Nav inside the website.

I think there are three factors of what makes a file big

    1. Sound - I think sounds can make or break a web site. If you use them right it can make for a spectacular site. But they are very space consuming, so dont overuse.

    2. Graphics - this depends on what kind of files you are using (jpg, bmp, ect ect). You might have to sacrifice quality to save loading time, but at the same time you dont want to use really blurry graphics.

    3. Effects - main thing on this is not to "clump" all the effects together. Dont get trigger happy with them for two reasons. one takes up space, and two makes the site/intro/whatever your doing too busy (too many things going on at once, which can also cause lag).

I guess the best answer for this is to balence everything. Thats the best way to describe it in one word, Balence.

    Best of luck to you

    Is the site too busy?

Good advice, but is my site have all the elemants you were referring to? Is it to busy?

I'm new so I am not sure if it too much.

I have a 15 second wave file as the lightning effect. Is there a way to compress that wave file to make a smaller (besides the obvious-shorter time)

Looking at your site the only thing i can see that could cause lag for some 56k users is the thunderbolt graphics. But even with that it should not take 6 minutes.

It could have very well been your friends connection at that time. I think it looks good, and no changes are nessasary.

The only thing i can think of is getting the opinion of a few other 56k users. Even to go on a web design chat such as yahoo, and ask someone with a 56k to take a look and see how long it takes. If most seem to have a long wait. Then move further and try and make a few changes.

As far as changing the .wav file, maybe making it a .mp3 would make it a little smaller, but i am not sure. Im not too experienced with sound files. If you want to try that www.goldwave.com has a great tool for converting sound files.

    Hope that helps
