1-What is a .dcr file? 2-How to get it to play?

I am studying a site that uses files ending in .dcr

I think they are Shockwave files but am not sure.

1 - Are they Shockwave files?
2 - If so how can I get them to play from my hard disk?
(found them in the temp internet files folder & wanted to keep
them as a reference)
3 - Is Shockwave a part of Flash or what?
4 - Exactly what does Shockwave do?
5 - Can Swish or SwishMax do what Shockwave does?

To tell you the truth i cannot find what a .dcr file is. But i can tell you it will not work with swish. sorry. Im sure frets can give you a lot more information on it that i can.

Yes they are. But beyond that, it's over my head.
