Datagrid
Has anyone come across a really good tutorial on how to use the DataGrid component?
I have been doing a ton of development using it and have never seen a good reference to help answer some of my questions ... so I figured the issues out on my own.
I am thinking of writing my own tutorial covering topics like
- how it works
- how to populating the grid
- accessing and using the data in it
- using cell renderers
- sorting and filter data
If someone already has done a good tutorial there is no sense in writing another but if there is not one out there I figure the knowledge I have gained can greatly help reduce others' pain.

Sounds like a good thing to write a tutorial about.
You'd be surprised how often things have no documentation, so I'd say just write the tutorial; even if there is another one out there the more sources of information the better in my opinion.

the component comes with a very complete pdf reference manual. I found all the info there.
Greetings.

True, but the pdf (atleast the one I have read) does not really cover some of the advanced things you can do with a grid, like cell renderers and header renderers (to make it look 100% better than stock), integration with other components and use in OOP. Some pointers along those lines will help alot of people (hopefully) make their grids look a lot better (like the ones in the MM Exchange section) and also utilize them better in data intensive applications.
I'm hoping to have something done soon, before the Christmas rush starts.

Yes, you are right, it sure will be useful to have access to those features.
Also, I found not very "friendly" the PDF contents, it took me a while to figure it out the basic functions.
Go ahead! We all will be happy!!! Greetings!

Hey,
I'm in the same boat as you, minus the 'figuring it out on my own part'. Have you ever found the references or tutorials you were searching for ? Just curious because I could use a shove in the right direction.
Thanks in advance
