amateur? must be a genius. their work includes a television commercial for jvc that's airing on nbc, they did a flash promo for the lord of rings & jvc, hmmm... what else, they've done at least 2 flash sites for samsung, and they garnered the FWA award plus macromedia's site of the day, just to cover a few items, and from the looks of their reel they did it all in after effects. no lightwave 3d, no 3d studio pro.

oh, but maybe you're only impressed with cgi? i guess compositing (the backbone of the film fx industry) is too pedetrian for you. okay. let's see what "you've" done...

oh wait! we can't! you've allowed your domain lapse. tsk. tsk. seems you didn't renew it after the 12/10 deadline. and we were all so eager to compare your wonderful work. it is wonderful, yes? after all you seem terrible confident enough to run down what appears to be an otherwise successful [and apparently long lived] company. or maybe you're just too broke from lack of work to renew?

put up or shut up man. that's what it's all about.

Its true. They have amazing work. And I dont see the reason you call it amateur.

Definately added into my favourites, great work by those guys. I love people who integrate AS controlled masks into their sites.

Dude, he gave his opinion, which is what this thread is about. If you want to go on fighting members who say things like that, take it off the boards.

I don't think it's very cool, but theyr sales staff really knows how to sell. Cool clients and must a been very interesting projects. No matter, the site isn't that cool, graphics and design is not impressive. It's a bit shame because it works very nicely. Well scripted.
I think they could do better then that. The site might also look better with smaller resolutions then 1280x1024. To me it's just another site with avarage too long animations :\

Yeah I could care less about what clients they have. Hint the word cool not well off.

The reel looks like some one who just got a trial of after effects and premiere and spent a week learning.

617 let me know what you want to see Ill show you my work.

Domain lapsed because I am chaning some stuff and gizy no longer fits my needs. Thanks for the concern man

yeah that 617 ****** must be madrhino. ive never seen anyone get so offended and obviously very upset and hurt that one person didnt like his work. yet he was too ashamed or embarassed to use his own name. thats funny. real professional guy.

yeah i too watched the demo real. it was very bland and boring. looked like every texture on there was downloaded off a free gif tile site. pretty killer lightning effects though, lol.
    maybe.

    ha.

You guys are too funny. I agree, the site isn't that impressive. In fact I sat there for a few moments waiting for it to finish loading...only to realize that it already had. It could use something to fill that GIANT white-space (actually its blue) to the left of the navigation. From a design point of view... well, its blue, its beveled windows-style, and its a whole lot of little boxes. Some imagination.

Aside from the site, I thought it was interesting that half of the demo reel is comprised of the introduction of the three logos, and the other half shows them again in a slightly different context. If MadRhino is indeed browsing the forums here, I might suggest you take a visit to your local book store and do some reading on motion graphics, lighting, video coloration and typography. I think it would be of great benefit to your prestigious client base.

Well yes, I do peruse the Flash forums, but only very, very rarely (I'm mine own worst critic and I hate reading when others agree with anything negative I'm feeling). I just happen to notice a lot of flaskit.com activity in my stats and wanted to see what's up, so please don't expect me to respond to (or look in on) any more of this.

The reel is gone. I never liked it anyway. It was a messy disjointed collection of bits from the DVD that doesn't translate well to the small screen. Fortunately the complete disc (about 30 minutes worth) -- when viewed as intended on a widescreen home theater -- has proven impressive to the studios and agencies who've seen it so I can't complain.

Sales staff? What staff?! It's just "me." BTW, I've never made a single sales call since I got into this business. Not even once.

As for the "downloaded textures", I hate to disappoint but I don't work that way. If I started grabbing recognizable material the studios would never hire me for menu designs or any other work (I would never have been invited by Adobe to participate in After Effects' Pro development either, and I'm certain FWA would have passed me over as well). You may not like it, but it's original.

That leaves madrhino.com. I didn't build it for Flash designers. I didn't build it for clients. I built it for myself. It's utilitarian. It's stark. And it all works the way it's supposed to. Start opening windows and it fills the emptiness nicely thank you. When I have time (ha!) I'll build something different, but at the moment I don't even have time to keep it updated.

Anyway, thanks for all the attention, good and bad.

    C

If you use the forums at least register if your not going to post cool but thats dick to just surf forums and not help the site out any.

Yeah I think we all know flashkit makes more bucks the more users for more ads and if you have registered user thats even a better way to get advertisers. Since this site is free for us to use after all.

Any how thats how I feel

I enjoyed that. Nothing terribly groundbreaking, but cool. I liked the funky mouse-following multi-image mask thing at the top on the home page.

    I don't like it.
I think he could have came up with a better way to display his content.

    Well, that is my oppinion.
