Hhmm... yellow. i like it to .
yellow stands for sun, lager (sort of) and butter. Three lovely things. I like the whole nav. thought it was way smooth. look foward to seeing more content.
    oh.. this forum is yellow

Agreed, the yellow looks weird. I liked the first choice, it looks better and cleaner. imho, the first one should be the one you use but maybe do it a bit taller.

    thanks for your comments...

I prefer the yellow one myself. I dont think there are many yellow sites about and i thought i could try and change all that!

I have tried many colours but i thought the yellow worked the best. I was going to have a feature where on every different page, the bg colour would change anyway.

What does everyone think of the wood???

The wood is what i thought i would get the most abuse about, but no one has mentioned it.

The idea is good on the yellow one, but I didnt like dit because the pale yellow on top looks bad in my opinion, maybe making it a bit darker.
Same goes for the wood, it looks good but at the same time a bit childish, I mean, like a kid's site. Maybe darkening the wood a little bit would looks better.
    just my 2 cents

    Ok Dave, heres my review:
The first one in my opinion is definitly the best. It just looks better than others. The wood is alright, but the yellow is just not working. For some reason the white outlines (logo, above the footer wood) going into the yellow looks really bad. The beveled W in wood looks bad too. Sorry about being harsh there dave but thats what reviews are for. Stick with the first one, it will definitly work for you the best. Good luck in your endevours dwuk

the yellow is ok but i dont think it matches with the wood texture and the grey background so, i prefer the 1st one

    this forum is yellow
    Get a skin!

Anyway, I prefer the 1st one, as it's more unconventional, snappy and minimal (plus I like the moo-cow approach).

Although the only thing I don't like about the 2nd one is (can you guess?)...the yellow. I see what you were trying to do in being a little different, but I just feel it doesn't go with the wood (which is fine, if you ask me) and certainly doesn't go with the grey.

With the 1st one, I'd stretch the white panel you have to the edge of the screen (not in flash, in the html page) and have something else subtly in the background.

    Something like that anyway.

I like the idea of both, but I think the grey one is better.
Still, the yellow one can be even darker and so does the wood. Almost black wood, that would look classy.

    Thanks for all your comments/ideas/critisism!

Just to let you know the moo-cow, was just a large image i used to test the preloader was working ok, i wasnt going to use it in the final product.

I think i'll look into the whole design a bit deeper, and then get you guys to test it again for me. Thanks for all your help.

    Dave
