Online Text Editor
..not a big thing and surely done before..
but i guess it's not that bad.
it enables you or your clients to easily update the website content online.
just replace your current textfield with the CMS 02 movieclip, resize the dynamic textfield to your needs and you are done.
note: flash MX doesn't allow whitespace between two tags: so <b> followed by <u> for example, will display the two tagged words without any space between them.

Ah, great stuff. I really think the system works well. One small problem. I wasn't
able to find a close/cancel button in the edit window. I'm probably just blind though.
By the way, does this demo actually save?

I like it - I am actually doing something very similar right now.
A few comments and one question.
Comments:
1) I think your HTML link generator should default to making the text Blue or something as this would lead the site visitor to click the link.
2) in re: ABOVE. The link should also target _blank as you dont want the browser venturing away from the originating site. At least make a button for that option at bare minimum.
3) The color buttons. Why not make them more like the Color Chooser within flash. I even remember seeing a small fla tute on this site which was kind of a plug and play color chooser.
4) Try to think outside of the developer box also - things like the close button and a cancel button and a "final submit" concept are key for non-power users like you will get here at FK. I assume you would want to market this as an add on to a client who you are doing a site for. Make sure that it's as dummy proof as possible. You don't want those "Why aren't my html tags closed" calls on a Sunday night!
5) Also - make sure that you either add in the http:// in the link piece or instruct the user that this MUST be there else the link wont work from within the dynamic text window.
6) A suggestion more than anything. For the adding email/html links part, you always append this to the bottom of the file. If this is to admin a BLOG type of dynamic box (recent news) type of thing - they will want recent stuff posted at the top. Make that an option to append to the bottom OR the top. Should be easy enough - just play with the AS you are already using.
Overall, really nice job - looks really nice too - now for my question.
Most of the functionality you have is identical to what I am developing. Most of mine is done EXCEPT: How are you getting flash to "wait" for the server side (I assume you are using php) to write the text file before refreshing the screen. I have tried posting in the Scripting and Backend forum, but haven't gotten a response in 2 days. Feel free to email me instead of posting here if you want:

Well done - clients really love that kind of thing (we've done it in HTML/ASP for a number of clients), and it is a big money maker. Costs you a bit in the long run, because you lose out on being paid for updates, but can generate a lot of income in the short run. Anyway, again, really well done, really clean cut, and very cool.
I really enjoy forgetting. When I first come to a place, I notice all the little details. I notice the way the sky looks. The color of white paper. The way people walk. Doorknobs. Everything. Then I get used to the place and I don't notice those things anymore. So only by forgetting can I see the place again as it really is.

Cool. Nice work, I was intending to do something like this a while ago. But thanks to my mediocre scripting skills, I stopped. Any tips?
Great job.
Cheerio.

this whole online editor thing leads me to ask, is it possible to do this without php or asp? Maybe use the xml connector or something to write an xml which has the txt in it?
