I'll assume you are using IE (some flavour of it)

    Click Tools (top nav bar)
    Click Internet Options
...where it says Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files.

If you want to avoid caching in the future, you could also click the settings button and change your prefs for caching from there.

actually...I spoke too soon. Here's the problem that I thought clearing the cache would fix, but it didn't.

I updated my Flash site last night. It is a movie which loads other movies. I'm at my PC at work and when I click on the buttons in my initial movie to load the smaller movies, the updates aren't there, but instead, the old crap is still there. I thought that it was because my site was cached on this computer. But the old crap is still loading.

Last night when I was ftping, I made sure that I deleted the old files off of my server before uploading the new, just in case (since my site was doing this yesterday too).

    Any thoughts?

Did you click the Delete offline files as well?

Try this: Delete the files off your server....browse to the site...see what happens.

Then clear your cache. See what happens now.

Upload the new files...browse to the site again - see what happens.

Also - for the future, you may want to take a look at this link (very old posting) http://www.flashkit.com/board/showth...14#post2116114

It explains how to add some AS into your fla which will keep loaded movies from caching. It will rename them with the date and time so that they are loaded anew each time the visitor comes to your site. I have found this script to be invaluable.

Thanks for the AS script. I will use that after seeing that my hard work came to nothing!

I did delete offline files when I cleared the cache.

I'll have to mess with the server files when I get home cuz I don't have em with me. I'll let you know...
