Thread: Dragging clips and masking...

    Exclamation

I'm trying to devise a technique but don't know if it's possible:

Similar to the spotlight effect, I would like to have a spotlight follow the users mouse and have it highlight an imported image behind it - with the rest of the image in black. Basically like looking around a pitch black room with a flashlight.

Unfortunately, it seems that masks can't use the Drag Movie Clip action.

Any ideas or thoughts out there?

I looked at that one already Flashguru - it won't work in my application as far as I can tell. There the TEXT IS the mask....which is what it being shown.

I need to highlight an imported jpg file with light.

Actually Flashguru, I believe if you look at the movie (flashlight) that you recommended you'll see that this won't work. In fact just to humor you, I tried replacing the text with the jpg - and it's a no go.

Any other bright ideas out there?

The only way to do this is to use a track method. I have created a file for you. If you like it please post and I will send it in to Mark to include in the movie section. Regards, Bill
