a link with a target _self should...

A link that has _self as the target should open up the webpage within the flash project, right? but you can't use the back arrow to get back to your flash project after you've left it? Is this the case? is there any way to enable the back arrow of the browser to take you back to the flash project or?

Thanks for all the help, everybody!

hiya, you could checkout robertPenners solution for the backButton.
    http://robertpenner.com/index2.html

U can also play a bit with Named anchors in the property box.
when setting a frame lable u can see the named anchor too.
Then publish with namedAnchor (publish settings)
I dont have a good experience with em, but in simple cases it should work. just play with it a bit

Well... that link you sent me was great except you have to use java script to make it work I think, and I haven't got a clue about that.... I put a named anchor on a keyframe and looked in the help file but I still don't know what I'm doing:/

i know what ya mean, the robertPenners way also did not really apply to me. and i have tried to use named anchors, but they only seem to work on simple test filez. i wanted to have a backbutton functionality in a site i did, but could not get it to work properly.
( well i began experimenting with named anchors half way into the project, hehe , so ofcourse it wont would not work that easilly)

i attached a test file, not sure if it works properly, but it can be a start

When I open that swf file I can click on the squares and make them move around, but the back and forward arrows on my browser don't work:/

oh my god I just found out what was going wrong! the website links were pointing to links that point to other links so it was making it so you'd have to double click on the "back" button in the browser to be able to get back to the flash project! and here I thought it wasn't able to go back at all cos nothing was happening! d'oh!
