A nice curve possible?
I am trying to render an animated interface for a major gallery project.
However i cant get smooth lines from the renders.
I am using 3dmax 5 and swift3d v2 pluggin.
I am rendering a flat circle from a 3d sphere in max. This zooms up towards the camera.
The circle in flash is made up of straight lines and its realy not good enough to use. I have tried rendering with curves but it looks horrible. Is there anyway i can get a smooth curve to the circle?
I can increase the mesh on the sphere and get smaller lines when making the circle but that is increasing the points and filesize too much and making the animation run too slowly on even a high spec machine.
Any suggestions? Or will i have to trace all the swift circles with real ones?

Are the spheres plain, one color circles or is there depth involved?

the spheres are being rendered out as one flat colour.

if that's the case, why not use Flash's circle tool. Spheres can be a pain in some cases due to not being made by a simple algorithm for that smooth curve like the oval/circle tool in Flash.
just a thought.

I probably will have to however there are 4 circles on each frame of 1023 frames and i will have to trace the size and motion of each

well, I can understand that... I just had to replace a sphere in an animation with Flash created circles... was a bit painful, but with some last minute re-animation; I had changed it to where they circles didn't cross paths with other objects.
but... yeah. upping the smoothness of the mesh quality ups the filesize; or rendering in raster mode, may be your saving grace as opposed to doing the painful edits I had to do.
