Reinstall QuickTime - should do it.

It did not work. My old avi's that I shot with my camera work just fine. Every other kind of avi works just fine. But my new avi's shot with the same camera don't work at all. The avi's are imported and I don't get any warning dialogue boxes but in the stage the clip is black, with no image. The number of frames are there but no video.
    I'm boggled. I don't know what;s going on.

This sometimes happens when you install a proprietary video capture card, which can sometimes have their own video codecs that install.

Those .AVI files you are trying to watch probably rely on a proprietary codec, and without that proprietary software installed, they simply will not play back!

I had this same problem when an associate of mine gave me .AVI's that he rendered using a Miro (Pinnacle) capture card.

If that is not the case, then you can always try re-installing the Windows Media Player:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/

Try finding the "Windows Media 9 Codecs" pack: They're there somewhere.

If this doesn't help, try downloading Nemo:

    http://nimo.titanesk.com/modules/fre...index.php?id=1

Nemo is free and has a plethora of Codecs that it can install to your liking.

    Good Luck!

    I tried everything.

My flash MX still does not read it. Well..., the only thing left to do is to zap my computer and reinstall everything. Hopefully this will return everything back to normal.
