Flix/Vegas incompatibility mystery solved
I and other members of this forum have reported that FlixPro cannot handle avi files that were rendered by Vegas. However, at least one other member said he had successfully used Vegas-avi files.
The mystery seems to have to do with whether or not you use the "OpenDML" and/or "avi-2" options in Vegas when rendering. I tried turning off both of those settings in Vegas -- so that Vegas rendered an avi-1 file instead of avi-2 -- and now FlixPro CAN convert it to swf.
The solution to the mystery is that FlixPro apparently does not support the avi-2 format; but avi-1 works fine. Setting Vegas' options accordingly produces clips that can successfully be converted to swf format.

Hi.
Thanks for posting this.
However, Flix can encode either version of AVI and I'm still not sure why you had that problem since I was able to encode the files you posted without a problem.
If I find out anything more I'llpost back.

Vegas yes and no
After converting some short avi files to flix (edited in Vegas), I tried a large file, 17 gig, it would not work, I made it into a mpeg 2 of 2 1/2 gig still would not work. Both of these were imported from another computer B I even transfered them to the same computer A and tried flix. Still would not work. Another file of 1.7 gig, rendered in A worked. How do I render in AVI 1?
I made the MPeg2 in procoder and re-rendered an avi file with procoder. Still would not convert. Seems to me the problem is with Flix.

Hi.
Flix will encode videos that play in the Windows Media player or the Quicktime player as long as you have the appropriate codecs installed in the correct places.
For Mpeg2 videos you must have an mpeg2 encoder and decoder installed.

More on Vegas and AVI 1
I just found out that there is an option in vegas to render in AVI 1. However, there is a 2 gig limit in size, a function of AVI 1. I have been able to use Procoder to do some good compresion, but we need to put pressure on Flix to get up to date and handle AVI 2s.

Burn a copy of your video that is not working for you onto a DVD or CD and I'll check it out.
It probably does encode but there is something with the way your system is configured that is causing the problem.
