I really hate that preloader!
Very misleading!
Try this one first...

Well one of the major problems (for me at least!) with that code, if not modified, is first that that preloading display will allways be displayed, whether the file is cached or not. And to me, I just can stand repeatedly seeing a preloader when going from one already visited (& already preloaded) section to another already visited (& already preloaded) section.
Secondly, outside of the initial download, that display is in fact a faked display, since if the file is already cached, thus 100% preloaded, why is the preloader display still displaying that it's apparently loading a file (after the initial download - it never starts from 0% again anyways!) from 40-50 or 60% up to 98%, when I well know that the file is already loaded, and that this is just a waste of time!
I will eventually re-write that preloading code... Can't stand to see it constantly suggested as being the ultimate preloader! That, it certainely insn't!

fair enough .
it seems that i used it once and i do remember that it did start a bit late ..40-50% but hey it seemed simple enough to learn from that because its so simple ..but then again if you search around you may find something simple and that functions better ..
just for the record ..i never said it was the ultimate preloader ..
cheers

I wasn't accusing you in particular... But only the link's own pretentions that this is a "smooth" preloader compared to others.
That it might be, but only when you've realized that it's mainly a faked "smooth" display... But IMHO, at explaining the preloading concept for a newbie, it fails miserably, and that's where I feel it's misleading!
