Hate to sound a pevish know-it-all, but in morse it's 3 dots for an "S" and 3 Dashes for an "O".

The sign denotes Electricity plus + minus, it's normally used to denote DC electricity.(by the way, this is'nt the know-it-all bit, years since I studied Electrical theory, well 2 at least)
