Black box in vector window?

Hi folks, I have what might be an obvious problem but I can't fix it. When I try to transform an avi or anything else into a vector file I end up with a solid black rectangular box in the lower center of the output.

It's very strange. When I hit the preview button the balck box is shown in the original file as well as the output. I've tried different presets, different media types...nothing. This only occurs when I transform to vector. Any other conversion looks fine. Unfortunately it's the vecor stuff that I really want. Any help would be appreciated!
