picture transitions

I was wondering what is the best way to have different picture transition for my web site? What I mean is I want a picture to randomly show up and couple seconds later I want it to wipe it out then another picture comes in with whole different transitions. If you don't know what kind of transitions I am talking about go to Power Point and click on the Slide Show menu, click Slide Transition. These are the transitions I want to uses, using Flash. Is that possible.

I know I can use alpha but I want to do something different.

Your best bet would be some creative masking. Just make it to where the mask comes in diffrent ways, shapes, and sizes.
