luma luma - almost ready, please check

    Hello all.

    With technology intro:

lumaTransform (feeds into the main site)

    Main site:

    D'Vidio Media

My company's very extensive site is scheduled to launch very soon. The site presents our artificial Neural Network / fuzzy Logic driven graphics technology and products as well as design services. Sorry for the long post, but I want to point out the issues that I'm already aware of and addressing (to avoid your needing to reiterate) and then seek your commentary on your general impressions, suggestions, and critical review.

(Note: Some of the names and descriptions that I list here will not make sense until after viewing the site, but please read them before viewing anyway so that you can be aware of what to be on the look out for.)

    KNOWN ISSUES:

    - The main site is attempting to tout producs and services - perhaps a source of confusion. We are midway in construction of a fast-loading hybrid site that will pull the technology and products out of this one.
    - The splash page to the main site leaves a lot to be desired. Working on it.
    - The loaders for the startup technology anim and the main site are somewhat dysfunctional.
    - The main website startup seems a bit cheesy
    - A few pages are "coming soon".
    - Music not installed yet.
    - The lower-left animation that occurs on main menu change is perhaps a bit much and its inner animation is not complete yet.
    - Should use pixel fonts.
    - Lots of info is shoe-horned into a small view area. We intend to provide PDF's of this info.
    - lumaSphere samples link broken.
    - The main site is rather monochromatic - some subtle color and surface textures would be an improvement.
    - Only the most recent news item of those listed displays when clicked.

    REQUESTED OPINIONS:

(Numbered for easy reference in your comments.)

    1) General impressions, suggestions, and critical review.
    2) The site implements extensive user/member functionality. For those who choose to do so, is the "full registration" process simple enough?
    3) For those who choose to, is the product purchase process simple enough?
    4) Is the message that we're trying to get across regarding our technology and products immediately clear without too much reading?
    5) For those who can stay awake through it all, are there any typos or confusing statments, especially in the technology and product pages?
    6) We have not thoroughly tested with modem access and suspect there might be some problems, particularly with the gallery at the upper right. Modem users, any stuff not appearing when you think it should?
    7) We have not tested extensively with browsers beyond Netscape & IE, nor has it been tested much on Mac. Experiencing any strange or obvious issues in other browsers or on Mac?

    * * There is a convenient context oriented feedback mechanism built in to the site, but our preference is that you list your responses here in this forum so that others can share in your perception. **

We sincerely thank all viewers and respondents.

    Hi
I thought the intro was too long, and served no purpose (wheres the skip intro button!)
I didnt get too far on the main site - too much movement and flashing going on for my taste I couldnt deal with it (too much like a bunch of adverts competing for my attention).

    1) General Impression. Graphicaly it is in the top tier. Instant question in mind, what does it all mean. As you mentioned you have information overload here. I left wondering what the site was trying to achieve. Getting deeper into it I tried to look at the $39 animation and clicked the icon in the product window to get a larger image of what I would be buying and found myself trapped in an order entry page. To view the image again I had to go through the procedure of clicking special offer again. This can be cleared up easily, however within a minute I was getting the impression that there is a learning curve with the navigation and being the owner of a large graphics business who purchases a dozens of these type of products I tired quickly of trying to find something.

    2) Full registration. It started to look easy but once again I ended up not being where I wanted to. This time step one asked for my email address, which I supplied, not wanting full registration (I presumed by the full word there was an alternative), there were no instructions as to where to go next. If I clicked bonus points to find out if I wanted full registration, I lost the information that I entered and had no obvious way to get back, like return to registration. Also I prefer to fill these forms out in HTML as I can then use the AutoFill feature incorporated in many browsers toolbars

    3) Product Purchase. Refer to my previous comments in 1). I had no real clue as to what I was buying. I would not purchase products from you without having a clearer idea of what it was and how it can be applied (showcase examples would be nice)

    4) Clarity of message. Read above comments

    5) Again I have answered this above, although I would say because of the confusion created this would impact negatively on my view of your products, percieving them also difficult to use, although I had not yet tried them

    6)I use a LAN

    7) It worked fine on Opera
Life is just a bunch of swf's

I have to agree with the skip intro button...and at times the intro animation seemed a little extemperaneous...
