    new sf-designs menu test

i'm working on a new site layout and i'm planning to make a full flash site... so i've been working on a real cool menu lately, and i hope you could give me some feedback... does it work or does your computer crach immediately... and do you have tips in how to make a menu like this (especially the code because it's over 180 lines of actionscript!!! )as "computer friendly" as possible?!

    sf-designs

so if you click at one side of the bar it will move to that side... so you can place it wherever you like! there are no menu items/buttons yet because i first want to optimize the code and make shure it works with everyone!

    thanks!

ps make shure also to take a look at my current site !!!

The concept is ok. I mean, personally I don't see the utility of being able to animate the menu like that. i.e. I'm not sure if it'll actually add much to the overall site.

With that said . . . I really like what you've done. I think as a component it's great. The movement is real smooth and "feels" nice. However, it's still buggy. It took me a while to figure out how to actually use it. Plus, if you click on one of the ends while it's still moving the menue spazzes out. ALthough it's kind of interesting to watch, I'm sure you don't want that functionality. I would suggest either disabling the ends while it's in motion, or adding error checks to handle that situation. Other than that . . . it's almost finished.

thanks for your suggestion! i've updated and optimized the code a bit (i hope... at least it's less lines ) and changed the way it works a but... first i had 2 functions, one for the first movement and one for the second... but now i managed to put it in one...
i also changed that bugthingy so the button is disabled when the menu is moving

i also added a new test for the pages, they have to resize according to the page in the same way... so if you click on "1" "2" or "3" the white square will resize...
    is everything still working fine?!

    url again

Nice job on the movement. You seem to have everything working in that department, and it looks great. However, I think you would want the numbers 1, 2, 3 to update with the location of the "menu". Otherwise we wouldn't be calling it a menu . They just stay in the upper left corner no matter what's happening with the menu. Plus, whenever I click on either 1, 2, or 3 the menu loses it's functionalaty. I can no longer click the ends . I'm not sure if this is what you want. I think I'm going to stop talking now because I've said menu way too much for one reply.

p.s. I would love to see your site when it's finished, because baised on what you have done so far it's going to be great. I looked at your current site and I like what you've done. It's "simple" yet effective. Nice job with that even though you shanked us English speakers .

nice movement of the menu, but I think that all transitions should be accomplished at the same time, not "move > width > height"

great point! no those are just for testing... i was planning on making some more "fancy" buttons than these

...Plus, whenever I click on either 1, 2, or 3 the menu loses it's functionalaty. I can no longer click the ends .
i noticed that problem too... but that's fixed now...

well this is just a test... eventually it will be so that when you click on a menu item the white square will move to the size of about 100 x 20 px (in one time) and then when the page is loaded it will "fold out" in this way... i think that would be nicer... but i haven't have anything to load yet so you don't see that...
