Site Check
Hello everyone:
I finally did something with my site that I think looks pretty good. Nothing is really active, I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on it before I went any further. So, let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions. Also, is it too pink? Should I add some other colors to break it up? I thought it kinda looks like someone threw peptobismol all over it? :-P

Thanks,

Thoughts...
Hey TT..
I'm just learning flash so you should prob take my comments with a grain of salt...but one thing that I have learned from posting my sites on the board for input...is to trust your gut. Often I have tried out a design and before posting said "that font change doesnt quite look right, but its not too bad" and then sure enough someone would reply...
"Looks good, but I would fix the font change."
If something doesnt quite feel right you should prob play around with it...but I do think it looks good so far, you have a good eye and everything looks very balanced...maybe try tinting the background graphic to navy blue and leaving the side columns and everything else pink. The nav bar looks good...nice animation.

Thanks for the response. I may just try tinting the background to another color. I really appreciate your response. I usually make bubble-gum cartoonesque sites because I haven't taken the time to learn how to use any graphics programs and any actionscripting or anything. I'm trying to delve deeper into the whole website thing.
Thanks for your response,
Crystal

lol, you're right. IMO, the font doesn't have the same style as the background and surrounding imagery. The backgound comes across to me like a handmade-paper-type-of-look, you know the kind where there’s some elegant handwriting and pebbled texture. Just seems to me like if you tired a more scribbly handwritten maybe cursive font, at least for the headings you might like it better.
Oh, and don't forget to make a bigger hit area on the buttons along the bottom. They can be hard to click on when the only active area is the same size and shape as the letters.
I really like the shining, and color shifting in the title. Good job.

Not a Moder8r
the actual mouseover area of the nav was hard to land on (IE: smaller than the text of the link), which will make potential navigation hard.
Yeah, the pepto-idea was right on: You can have bubble-gum style without being quite so pink. perhaps if the links looks like bubbles, or something to that effect, you'd be able to reduce the pink and still keep the look and feel of the site.
one hint: The sitemap is not usually the main content of the site, and might not be a good idea right on the index page; entries in the sitemap should be cickable.
looks good!
As for what you said 'bout graphics programs, consider getting Photoshop. You can do anything with that program...

Hey everyone,
Thank you for your responses. I will try them all out too @ least see how they look. Yeah, the pink thing is like a avalanche. It started off small. I'm going to definitely try to break that up some. Thank you again RazzBerryGirl and hGraf,
Regards,
TT

hey tamutata, with wut everyone syas i agree. the fonts look blurry on my screen and im viewing it on safari. to fix the color problem, using navy blue or shades of blue is to close to the color that u have now, so in my opinion i would def use white, well add more of it and some type of yellow/orange to add contrast (maybe break up that bubble gum look) you already have a 'dark color" hence the maroonish color. if u dont want to add another color then you need alil bit more white space. try making the center box white but set the opacity at 50/60.
hope this helps some
