problem with shape tween

when i click shape tween the line shows up dashed. WHY?

You need your shape at both ends of the timeline (both in keyframes) to create a tween.

Also possible you have a non-compatible object in that layer. Shape tweens only work with ungrouped drawing objects. If you have something that's grouped or a symbol instance in that layer and are trying to shape tween it, you'll see that dashed line as well.

ah yes, always have your tween elements alone on their own separate layer, they don't play well with others.
