    photog site

    checkit.
did this site for a photo friend.
it uses a php script with LoadVars that returns all the files in a given directory, and then makes thumbnails out of them using LoadMovie inside an external swf that is loaded into a ScrollPane object on the root timeline.
bigups to wherever i found out about ScrollPaneObject.invalidate(); very useful.

lemme know what you fools think.

fools? well thats not a nice thing to say of us when ur asking us to critque your site....

it doesnt look bad, the logo and the navigation should be aligned together, its alittle off. for a photographer, considering i work with photographers everyday, i think your friend may need an about page, customers like to know wut the photographer is about, wut they offer, wut type of equipment they use, etc..... if not, something small about them at least, makes the site alittle bit more personal unless he isn't doing this professionally and just for fun.

in the gallery, you shouldnt have the images flushed up against the left black line, give the image and the frame alittle space as you do with the right edge/naviagtion..... keep the alignments consistent (grid) in each section, you should let the user know which section they are in somehow.....

I think it is a great site with some great ideas, but I don't think it works for a photographer.

It is too busy to present the pictures.

The design becomes the main focus and not the photos which is a shame sincethe photos are good. Basically a great that competes with great content. It should always be the content that should be in focus

    good suggestions, both of you.
(by the way, fools was not used in a pejorative sense, more like a 'wassup, fools! pass me that shpleef!')

i think the problem here is the big pic in the background that is taking away from the pix. while i think it looks dope, maybe it is too over the top? or maybe if the thumbnails were less busy?

    i love you all.

I dissagree, I think the the thumbnails and the big background pic should stay. it's a great effect, and it really makes me want to explore ever inch of the photo. I can see how it may seem to distract, perhaps if you made them a bit more trasparent, so they didn't stand out so much. seems like you droped the alpha or something... drop it more, and see how that looks before you eliminate it all together.
