Wow, I really love the cool smokey looking ball thing. Not only an awesome effect, but it runs smooth on my 500MHZ which is more than most new spectacular Flash sites can achieve!

    Fantastic,
that's a really good portfolio site. Good animations, easy to read, visually stunning.

    I give it a 8.5

Like all the other 3D visuals, the abstract animation in the sphere was done in LightWave 3D [8]. It was rendered as a sequence of PNG images and then imported into Flash. Nothing special about it.

You should probably look into a few $1000 too.

3D programs are expensive unless you work for a company and convince them you need it (hehe) or you do it illegally, which I don't suggest or support.

Before actually making a buying decision, you should take a look at the demo or trial versions that are available for all the major 3D software packages. This way you can find out which software suits your needs and skills best. And if you are completely new to 3D prepare for a steep learning curve.

i wish i had some work to show you online, but i use 3d studio max mostly. I
you can see a little bit @ www.inertiamedia.net. I'm working on that site right now ... i just started it last week, still quite rough. Practicing some new actionscript. But you can see I made the logo in a 3d environment. I use Cinema 4d on occasion & thats propbably a little easier to learn. I've been told that Lightwave is GREAT for starting off in the 3d world ...

True. I tried Blender two years ago. Man, I got so frustrated by learning Blender. Later I switched to LightWave, and learning this program was such a great experience!
